Fresh Sights
I have always been a highly goal-orientated person, even to a fault. I couldn't enjoy myself until I had achieved what I wanted to achieve, and even then, I couldn't celebrate too long or rest because I might stagnate. So, off I would go, never "stopping to smell the roses". Then, one day, I noticed someone that stopped me in my tracks; seeing her smile made me happy for some reason, and from that moment on, I noticed everyday things, and found joy in the journey.
Lyrics
One divine appointment and my life has turned around
Yet trying to sieze that moment was like trying to catch a cloud
Just brush my fingers gently through and let the moisture cool me down
A soft wind carried you away and left my hand to slowly dry
Look out for that cloud at times, and find only clear, blue skies
Once more, a world of colour would captivate my heart and eyes
I set fresh sights on my horizon and feel a twitch in my right hand
Out there lies what's yet to be. What do I have right where I stand?
The goal is not the means, ad the journey is not the end.
You're the embodiment of everything I abhor,
Yet never have I been arrested like this before.
My God, what is wrong with me? I can't even sleep.
I've not know disharmony and compassion this deep.
That cloud has long since vanished and now the air is clear.
The dust has settled, breathe in deep, and know delight right here.
Then, when I find my fountain, immerse myself and hold it dear.
I set fresh sights on my horizon and feel a twitch in my right hand
Out there lies what's yet to be. What do I have right where I stand?
The goal is not the means, ad the journey is not the end.
Now I look to my horizon with whole heart and open hands.
Out there lies a world so new but here is where I learned to stand
Once I loved and lost, yet I have gained in the end.
The song of birds, the sparkle of glistening sun on dew-kissed flowers.
All messengers of beauty, but in the days mid hours
Through you, I heard it beckon. My heart awoke and welcomed it in.
